First & foremost…how CUTE is this illustration of Kamari & Aesira! I wanted a piece of them together and ridanimations (Instagram) did such a great job capturing both of them and bringing them to life.
I’m in the third round of self-edits right now, waiting on one last beta, and then this book is off to my editor for developmental edits. WILD and also SO exciting. I like to wait until I have a feel for how dev-edits will go before making any sort of release date announcement SO I promise the announcement is coming soon (next month!!!!) just bare with me a little longer.
So many of you have been on the journey with me since the book was just “project red” and I appreciate your patience and continual support. I can’t tell you much but I can tell you, in my humble opinion, it’s worth the wait ;)
If you haven’t yet—you can add to GOODREADS here. This helps me gauge reader interest as I start to put together pre-order incentives, ARCS, giveaways, etc.!
Once COLK is with my editor, I’ll do one of three things. Read as many books as I can as quickly as I can, stare at the ceiling for three weeks, or write as much as I can on book two or Kismet (I miss this story so much!!!) Either way, it’ll be a nice break from looking at the same manuscript over and over again and I’m looking forward to spending the last month of summer before my little one starts Kindergarten.
Speaking of reading…I finished up Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil about a week ago. Listen, if you know me you know my love for V.E Schwab runs deep and this book was absolutely everything I needed it to be. It reads closer to Addie Larue than A Darker Shade of Magic and it was wonderful to be lost in one of her stories. It’s dark, heartbreaking, beautifully written. 100/10 recommend.
Thanks for sticking around! I hope summer is treating you well, or winter if you’re on the other side of the world (hi Ash <3)
Until next time,
Kristen

Omg the art! Look at them together!
I’m so excited to have another book to read and add to my collection!! I have loved every one so far and can’t wait for this one!
